My name is Matt and welcome to Brain Candy!
I've been illustrating for as long as I can remember. In the mid 2000's, I used to do graphic design for MySpace metal bands and clothing brands as I was attending high school. At that time, designing for these clients made me wonder about doing my own brand at some point.
I actually stopped drawing altogether for a few years, picking up my pencil occasionally. Fast forward to 2019, I finally made the decision to give it a try! So here we are in 2024!
Toys and video games are a huge inspiration to this brand. I've been buying, selling, and collecting toys for nearly 15 years. I collect vintage Star Wars items and vintage video game products; mostly Nintendo. However, I have been slowly branching out into Biker Mice from Mars, Street Sharks, and some other toy lines and fast food toys.
Other inspiration comes from 80's and 90's cartoons, goofy 90's films, and snacks of that era.
I run this brand by myself! It's truly a "one-man" show. I design, run social media, do local conventions, and pack all by myself. I'd love to have staff, but my cats don't seem to wanna help.
